Helping Helpers to provide aide for Traveling Katrina Relief Workers
Food, lodging and aide will be provided to Relief workers passing through Black Mountain, NC.
Lodging facilities in homes, conference Centers and camps will be provided at no charge. Food will be supplied by various local groups depending on the number to be served.
Concerned citizens, organizations and churches of Black Mountain, North Carolina have formed an ad hoc group to handle food and lodging for Katrina Relief Workers passing through our area in the coming weeks and months.
Black Mountain is located along I-40 (Exit 64) just east of Asheville, NC.
Black Mountain is approximately 8 hours drive from Washington, DC and 9 ½ hours to Jackson, Mississippi or Mobile, Alabama
Those traveling the I-81 corridor should take I-77 to I -40, then west on I-40 to Exit 64 at Black Mountain.
Those traveling the I-95 to I-85 corridor should take I-40 west to Exit 64 at Black Mountain.
Those returning from the Katrina relief area should take I-85 north to I-26, then north on I-26 to I-40 East. Exit I-40 at exit 64.
