Mountain Camp is an opportunity for young campers to spend a week in the woods, living in tents without having to backpack or do their own cooking. Campers live in the Christmount wilderness area while taking most of their meals at the camp Dining Hall, except for pack-out lunches when they hike or the one night they cook in the woods. It is not necessary for campers to own lots of equipment, since Christmount owns tents and other camping supplies. The basic "what to bring list" for Mountain Camp is mostly the same as other camps.

Activities include: daily hikes both at Christmount and in the nearby mountains; daily devotional time in the morning and evening; crafts; group-building games and activities; learning about nature (includes learning the names of many plants and trees, creek walking, and safety in the woods); swimming; and recreation.

Mountain Camp is a very active camp. Campers need to be able to walk and enjoy hiking. They do not spend time watching movies or being inside much. The camp is designed to be lots of fun but your camper needs to understand that it is an outdoor camp! Campers also need to understand that they will be in the woods and will be hiking everyday! Parents/guardians are expected to let their children know what kind of camp this is so that the camper doesn’t say, "If I knew we were going to do all this hiking I wouldn’t have come!"

PLEASE make sure that your camper brings lots of socks and some shoes that will be good for walking. Sneakers are fine, but without socks, the campers can develop blisters. They MAY NOT hike in sandals, especially flip flops!

Christmount camps are open to all, regardless of race, nationality, and religion, in accordance with Christian values and the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The only restrictions are those pertaining to age or to the physical requirements of a particular camp.

Christmount Camp Staff is certified by the Red Cross in First Aid and CPR. They are trained to care for campers in appropriate and sensitive ways.

In order for a camper to be registered for this camp, parents/guardians must fill out a Christmount camp application. Please read all health information carefully. If information on shots and insurance is not filled in completely, and phone contacts are not complete, we cannot consider a camper fully registered for camp!!!

Do not bring: firearms, fireworks, illegal drugs, alcohol, knives, jewelry, jam boxes, or anything of value that you would not want stolen or lost.

What to bring: comfortable clothes, underwear, hiking boots and/or sneakers, sleeping bag, pillow, raincoat, toiletry items (soap, shampoo, toothpaste/brush, hair brush, etc.), towels, swim suit, socks (need lots of these!), small notebook and pen, insect repellent, flashlight. Christmount will provide the tents. We also have a few sleeping bags, but you need to call and ask about these ahead of time.

Parents/guardians: please check on your child’s packing to make sure all of the items listed above are present! We usually have a shortage of underwear and socks. If you have need of some items, please contact us to see if we can provide them.

Camp begins: Monday, 10:00 A.M.

Camp ends: Saturday, 10:00 A.M.
