Primary Camp
July 18 -
20, 2008
(campers should have completed grade 1 or 2)
Cost: $85 per person.
Christmounts Primary Camp has been a great beginning for many campers. Designed to be shorter than the week-long church camp for older children, this camp gives children a taste of what camp life is all about: living in a cabin with a counselor and several other campers, learning to look after ones own things at camp, and doing all the traditional camp activities: crafts, singing, Bible study, recreation, swimming, group games, mail call, worship, and many other activities that form the camp day.
Christmounts camp staff of college students, along with local church volunteers and parents, care about children and are committed to providing a safe and loving environment in which to nurture young people in Christian faith and values. Christmounts staff has extensive experience in camping and church work; many are training for some type of professional Christian vocation, and all are trained in leading Bible study and worship and are certified in First Aid/CPR.
Camp begins on Friday afternoon at 3:00 and ends at 3:00 on Sunday.
What to bring: comfortable clothing, sweatshirt or jacket, sneakers, socks, underwear, towels, toiletries, bedding for twin bunks (sheets/blankets or sleeping bags), pillow, Bible, small notebook, pencil or pen.
What not to bring: computer games, pagers, cellular phones, stereos, walkman, fireworks, firearms, illegal drugs, knives.

Christmount welcomes the help of volunteer counselors and parents who want to participate fully as camp counselors. If you want to stay at Christmounts Guest House and not participate in camp, we ask that you do not "drop in" on camp during the weekend: inevitably, the child or one of their friends will see you and tell your child, which can spark an otherwise non-existing case of homesickness! We have found that by keeping campers busy during the entire weekend (there is very little "down" time), homesickness is usually avoided: in 14 summers, we have had only three cases of real homesickness, and two of those were when a child found the parents spying on the camp!
PLEASE NOTE:
If your church is sending
campers, you should also have
one volunteer for each 5 - 7 children from your church!
Christmount cannot do camp without your help!!! Thus, we will not accept more than 7 campers from any church without a counselor from the church.
It is okay to call the camp to see how your child is doing, but please understand that it may take several hours before the director can return your call. The staff stays extremely busy during this weekend so that campers receive 100% of our attention, and unless there is an emergency the director will not check phone messages for several hours at a time. In an emergency, the director will try to return your call within the half hour (office staff may have to chase down the group depending on where the camp is at a particular time).
