Camp Lakey Gap
makes every effort to serve all people with autism, regardless of the degree
of disability.

|
Mission
Camp Lakey Gap strives to nurture individuals on the autism spectrum with an enriching summer camp experience not
possible in a traditional camp setting and provide guardians with a time of respite.
|
Objectives:
- Camper Recreation We strive to provide our campers with a recreation experience similar to any other summer camp. Our staff structures the activities so that individuals on the autism spectrum will be able to understand what is expected of them and participate as independently as possible.
- Camper Skill Development While attending a week of residential camp our campers will be encouraged to strengthen their self-help skills, communication, social behavior and independence through participation in the recreational activities, and with the support of a 1:1 or 1:2 staff ratio.
- Family Respite Camp Lakey Gap provides a break for families and caregivers, so that they can focus on other aspects of their life during the week of camp.
- Professional Staff Training Students who are interested in a career in Special Education, Psychology, Speech Pathology or other Human Services can gain unique experience through the training and the relationships that are made with our campers.
