Discovery Weekend is a women's retreat co-sponsored by Women for Christmount and Christmount Christian Assembly. It is usually held near the end of May or first of June. It's a time when women can examine the spiritual aspects of life. It's a time of prayer, study, music, meditation, fun and fellowship.

Rev. Amy Gopp was raised in Kent, Ohio where she was baptized at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Amy received her BA in International Relations in 1994 at the American University School of International Service in Washington, DC. In 1995 Amy moved to the war-torn former Yugoslavia where she volunteered with Mennonite Central Committee and Global Ministries. From 1995-1999 she lived in Croatia and Bosnia working as a peace activist in the areas of refugee concerns, interfaith dialogue, and conflict resolution. While in Sarajevo, Amy coordinated the award-winning interfaith choir, Pontanima.
She received her MA in Conflict Resolution from Antioch University in 1998. Amy served as the Intern Coordinator for the Disciples Peace Fellowship for four years as well as a member of the Week of Compassion Advisory Committee. In May of 2005 she graduated with her MDiv degree from Union Theological Seminary where she helped to found the Poverty Initiative, a program that trains future religious leaders to overcome the oppressive structures contributing to poverty and economic injustice in America. During her seminary career she served as Associate for Outreach Ministries at Park Avenue Christian Church in Manhattan as well as the United Nations Liaison for Wider Church Ministries (a common ministry of the United Church of Christ and Disciples of Christ). An ordained Disciples pastor, Amy currently serves as the Associate Director for Week of Compassion, the relief, refugee, and development ministry fund of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Phoebe Spier is
a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington and has resided in the town of her
alma mater for nearly eight years. Phoebe is a singer/songwriter/song leader
who has been an active Disciple of Christ all of her life. She has worked with
the Indiana Youth Commission, with the General Youth Council, as a Disciples
Peace Fellowship Intern (which brought her the first time to Christmount!), and
worked as the Director of Youth and Families for Tabernacle Christian Church, in
addition to worship and song leading for many groups across the country. She is
currently finishing an album, planning her upcoming May wedding, as well as a
move with her fiancé, Eric, and dog, Sebastian, to Portland, Oregon.
